Paintracker 

Chronic Pain Ireland is pleased to announce a new online tool designed to help you manage your pain.  Paintracker is an online tool that allows you to record the location of your pain, causes of pain and level of pain over a period of time.  The site was developed by Chronic Pain Ireland with sponsorship from Mundipharma.  It's open to everyone and you can find out more and register online at www.paintracker.ie  or you can simply select the link on the bottom of the CPI home page www.chronicpain.ie

Following three European SIP symposia between 2010-2012, this year's Societal Impact of Pain "SIP Focus Groups" took place on 14th and 15th May 2013 in Brussels.

The Focus Groups concentrated on two topics: "Pain as Quality Indicator of Outcome" and "Chronic Pain in the Working Population".

“The Neurological Alliance of Ireland launched their neurorehabilitation manifesto in the Mansion House Dublin today, calling for the implementation of the national rehabilitation strategy.

The manifesto also highlighted the need to protect not for profit organisations from ongoing cuts, given that these are often the only source of services for people with neurological conditions and their families. NAI also published the findings of their nationwide survey on access to neurorehabilitation, showing that a high percentage of respondents could not access vital supports such as counselling, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and speech and language therapy.

CHRONIC PAIN - A DISEASE IN ITS OWN RIGHT AND A MAJOR HEALTHCARE PROBLEM 

The fifth annual scientific meeting of the Faculty of Pain Medicine, College of Anaesthetists of Ireland is taking place from 21st - 23rd February 2013 entitled Chronic Pain - A Disease in its own Right and a Major Healthcare Problem.  This 3-day conference on chronic pain will focus on the future of pain management including specially devised symposia for GP's, Pain Nurse, Specialists and Researchers.  Please note that the main section of the conference is not open to the general public as only medical personnel are permitted to attend.

2013 promises to be an eventful year for neurological conditions in Ireland. In May, Ireland will host European Brain Month in association with the EU commission and the European Brain Council. As Ireland holds the EU presidency during this period, this is an important opportunity to highlight issues affecting the over 700,000 people who live with a neurological condition.

The Neurological Alliance of Ireland (NAI) is the umbrella body for over thirty not for profit organisations working with people with neurological conditions and their families. NAI will be using Brain Month to highlight Ireland’s track record when it comes to meeting the needs of the over 700,000 people in this country who live with a neurological condition.
